まるで小さな植木鉢のようにも見えるかわいらしい焼き締めの小鉢です。
焼き締めと言っても、大竹さんの焼き締めの器は薄い透明釉薬を一度さっとかけているので、
サラッとした土の感触はそのままにシミはつきにくく扱いやすくなっています。
自然な土色がお料理を引き立ててくれます。
大きさとしては、副菜の和物や煮物など幅広く活躍してくれそうな大きさです。

大竹こずえさんの器はひとつずつ、その時のインスピレーションを大切に制作されているとのことです。
そしてその色は"何色"と表現し難い繊細な色合わせでとても美しい色ばかりです。
ご本人曰く、少しずつ色々な色で製作したのですが気が付けば日本の伝統的な色ばかりになっていたとのこと。
さあ今日は何を盛り付けようか・・・そんなわくわくをくれる器です。

This charming small bowl has the delightful appearance of a tiny flowerpot. Crafted in an unglazed, high-fired style, it showcases the natural beauty and warmth of the clay.
Although it is classified as yakishime (high-fired unglazed pottery), Coz. applies a very light coat of transparent glaze over the surface. This preserves the pleasant, earthy texture of the clay while making the bowl more resistant to staining and easier to care for in everyday use.
Its natural clay tones beautifully complement a wide variety of dishes, allowing the colors of your food to stand out. The size is ideal for serving Japanese side dishes such as dressed vegetables (aemono), simmered dishes (nimono), pickles, or other small appetizers.
Each piece by Coz. (Kozue Otake) is created with the artist's inspiration in mind, making every work truly one of a kind. Her glazes and finishes are celebrated for their subtle, nuanced tones—colors that are difficult to define with a single name yet possess remarkable depth and quiet beauty. According to the artist, although she experimented with many different colors, she eventually realized that her palette had naturally evolved into shades inspired by the traditional colors of Japan.
This is a piece that inspires creativity in presentation and brings a sense of quiet anticipation to every meal.
Artist Profile – Coz. (Kozue Otake)
Born in 1977 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Graduated from the Department of Design, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2001.
Began working with ceramics in 2017.
Studied under ceramic artist Yoshinori Takemura.
